VIRGINIA HARRINGTON

Virginia is a graduate of University College Cork and qualified as a Solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland in 2000. She is also an Accredited Mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).

Prior to joining NMS Solicitors LLP, Virginia worked with Barry M O'Meara & Son Solicitors in Cork where she specialised in litigation, representing clients in Personal Injury, Medical Negligence and Commercial Defence cases. To expand the scope of her experience, Virginia took up a position with Bandon firm, Murphy Long and Taaffe, where she developed her skills in property transactions for both with private clients and commercial developers.

Virginia is a Mentor in the Law Society's Women in Leadership Mentoring programme which she finds hugely rewarding in helping the next generation of Solictors. In addition she has an interest in the process of judicial decision making and is presently researching areas touching on consistency and unconscious bias in judicial decision making in Ireland. She also intends to commence research on the Drug Treatment Court in Ireland which she sees as making use of both her Law Degree and her Degreee in Psychology. She hopes that this research will assist in stabillising and developing the Drug Treatment Court as a means of reducing crime through rehabilitation.

As a Partner, Virginia has a particular interest in private client work and is fierce in representing the needs and rights of her clients. Whether through argument or by negotiation she is intent on solving her clients' legal problems in a practical manner and in an atmosphere of trust, discretion and personal attention.
